Sarah Edwards, co-owner
Sarah started practicing yoga while in massage school and has been a certified teacher since 2005. She teaches to share the benefits that she receives from time on her mat : outside and in, living more comfortably and confidently. Sarah’s classes are infused with her passion for the practice and knowledge of the body. Adventure and meaningful relationships are what nourish her soul. She and Ellen opened Blue Bird to provide a space where people can enrich, inspire and energize their lives through yoga.
Ellen Niedringhaus, co-owner
Ellen has been a student of yoga since her transformative first class in 2003. In the years following, she was certified in the Bikram, Vinyasa, and yogaHOUR methods. Ellen and Sarah opened the doors to Blue Bird Yoga in 2011. Her extensive training and playful personality make her classes smart, challenging, and fun. Ellen teaches classes at Blue Bird Yoga and travels nationally as a yogaHOUR teacher trainer. She is deeply influenced by her personal practice and the life she leads off the mat with her husband, Tim, and son and daughter, Elijah and Beatrice.
Erin Cavedine, studio manager
Erin started practicing at Blue Bird a couple months after we opened, and started teaching here the following year. The year after that she became our manager! Erin teaches to share the benefits yoga provides her; the opportunity to learn, be challenged, and grow. She has completed over 400 hours of trainings. Outside the studio Erin loves Summer days, music & concerts, creating things with paint and oil pastels, and spending time her daughter and husband.
Angie Kester, teacher
Angie’s big heart shows in all she does…for her, teaching yoga is a way to help people expand their possibilities, no matter how big or small the achievement. Her own practice and progress are never-ending. She has completed 400 hours of yoga trainings and feels there is always more room to grow and more ways to open your heart. Angie also enjoys reading, biking, cooking, hiking, and fishing.
Shannon Wheeler, teacher
Through teaching yoga, Shannon hopes to leave a lasting and positive impact on students. She looks forward to sharing the love and health she has cultivated through her own yoga practice. Shannon digs honesty, going barefoot, building towers with her awesome husband and son, and reading about health and nutrition. We have Owasso, Oklahoma, to thank for lending sweet Shannon to the Blue Bird Yoga community.
Kristen Rhodes, teacher
Yoga is captivating for Kristen because, “there is always more to learn, ways to grow and things to let go.” Her teaching certifications include RYT-200 and official yogaHOUR teacher. Her straight-forward approach and love of her practice infuse her teaching. When Kristen isn’t on her mat practicing yoga or meditating, you can find her hiking with her pups, Luna and Sunny.
Johanna Burke, teacher
Naturally quiet and reserved, Jo values yoga because it brings out her playful side and encourages constant learning. She loves backbends, her family, diving into an old book and trying new recipes in her kitchen. In her classes, expect a well balanced yoga serving. Her grounded presence and precise instruction will have you working hard while simultaneously feeling at ease. Johanna did her 200-hr training and yogaHOUR certification at Blue Bird Yoga.
Dusty Stroh, teacher
Dusty’s sense of humor and overall sweetness come out in all she does. She enjoys yoga 1. because it’s fun, and 2. because it relieves hip and low back tension. When she isn’t on her mat, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and 2 daughters. She enjoys watching documentaries and dancing like no one’s watching. Dusty’s conversational teaching approach will lead you to learn something new every class. Dusty completed her 200-hr and yogaHOUR certifications at Blue Bird.
Meghan Dittemore, teacher
A bumpin’ playlist and sweaty shins are signatures of Meghan’s classes. She started practicing at BBY in 2012 while attending college at Lindenwood, and she is now a 200-hour and yogaHOUR certified teacher. If she isn’t teaching or taking class, you’ll likely find her chilling with her chihuahuas and training for GORUCK events with her husband- to-be. Fun fact : Connor proposed to her at BBY at the end of savasana!
Emily Capelli, teacher
Yoga reminds Emily of all the incredible things that she is capable of. Her favorite pose is twisted monkey – a hip opener, backbend and twist all in 1. Yoga keeps Emily’s body open so she can hit the hiking trails with her pup, Dozier. Her upbeat voice, personality and class pace will keep you moving and grooving, so that your final resting pose will feel oh-so-sweet. Emily earned her 200-hr and yogaHOUR certifications at Blue Bird Yoga.
